Congratulations to the Thunder on a 3-peat championship win in the 2019 1a state basketball tournament!!

In the last 5 years, the Grand View Christian Thunder basketball team compiled a 23-2 record in 2014-2015, was 25-2 in 2015-2016, 27-1 in 2016-2017, 25-1 in 2017-2018, and finished 26-1 in the 2018-2019 season. This translates into a 5 year record of 126-7.

The Thunder boys made their first ever Boys State Basketball appearance in 2016 and in 2017, the #2 boys Thunder basketball team finished their season with the state championship title, ending their unbelievable season with a record of 27-1! The excitement was even greater in the 2017-2018 season with the Thunder rolling in 25 wins and only 1 loss. The state championship game brought together the #1 Thunder and #2 North Linn-- the two winningest teams in the past 4 years, for a battle to the very last second. The Thunder WON- becoming the first Des Moines area team to win back to back state championship titles! In 2019, the boys took on Alburnette and defeated them 43-24, winning their 3rd straight state championship title in 1a.

Coach Dave Stubbs, Iowa's 2017 1A Coach of the Year, had another GREAT season with a fantastic group of athletes and we can't wait to get started again next season!
